A challenge of textures, part 1

This is a painting in progress, mainly because I'm busy with kid birthday party preparations and I'm still trying to figure out how to paint the lace tablecloth.  In other words, it could be another week before this gets done.  But for now, here's a glimpse at how it's coming along.
