Sear's Island Plein Air

The temperature has hit above 30 degrees.  In such a heatwave, plein-air painting is a must, no matter how gray and drippy it gets.  We headed out to Sear's Island, Maine this morning and, although the temperature was warmer, for some reason the kids were colder as they played among the rocks, asking to leave earlier than usual.

On the positive side, I think I'm starting to understand how to paint plein air.  I was able to find a scene and block it off pretty quickly, this time making sure to use paint with a lighter. wash-like quality.  Now I just have to learn about how to paint trees and other items in landscapes and you know what that means . . . . I get to look at painting books!!
