Somewhere in the Bolivian Altiplano

I've been learning lately how to paint landscapes.  And today I thought I'd test my knowledge.  While I am aware that photos alter values and colors and perception of depth in a landscape, I am not always sure how to fix them while painting.  So I've decided to loosen up my strokes, and go with the feel of the landscape.

While in Bolivia, we had driven across the altiplano and into Chile.  The scenery reminded me of Montana with the big sky, the various grasses with the mountains in the background - like Montana, just 14,000 feet higher up.  I took over 4,000 photos of the scenery on that trip alone.  This was one of them.  But I have no idea (other than labeling it the altiplano) of where it was actually taken, hence the title.
